Salans’ Spanish acquisitions
Salans has expanded its operations in Europe after acquiring Pinsent Masons’ Madrid-based alliance partner Masons Buxeda Menchen and a boutique firm led by Alejandro and Juan Ignacio Alonso.
The new offices bring expertise in the corporate/M&A arena, as well as in energy, tax, and real estate and construction.
The firm has been looking to expand its operations in Western Europe following its success in Germany. “Spain is a major world economy and a key market for many of our clients, so it is a natural progression to establish operations there,” Stephen Finch, Salans’ chairman commented.
The Spanish economy, the fifth largest in Europe, is one of the region’s fastest-growing. Salans joins a number of international law firms looking to join well-established firms already out there, including Baker & McKenzie which opened a Madrid office in 1965 and a Barcelona office in 1988.
